Mile High Mini-Z Grand Prix

Event Information

Welcome to the 2nd annual Mile High Mini-Z Grand Prix. This year has been an exciting time for 5280 Raceway and its 28th scale racing program. We were fortunate enough to be picked by PN Racing for the 2022 PN North American Championships. We had a very successful event with 60 drivers and 128 entries. Our club racing program has grown along with 28th-scale racing in Colorado.

This year MHMGP will be bigger and better than in 2021. Our track will be 60ft x 30ft. We are expecting some of the best racers in the 28th scale market along with the top 28th scale manufacturers and resellers sponsoring this event.

5280 Raceway is located in the heart of Lakewood a suburb in the Denver area. There are 6+ hotels within 10min rated at 2.5 to 4 stars. There is more than ample parking as the track is located in a strip mall at Quail and Colfax. The largest tenant in the complex is a King Soopers grocery store with an additional 20+ restaurants 10 min or less from the track.

For those that want additional practice, the track will be open all week. The practice fee will be $10/day for Mon/Tue/Wed/Thur. the track layout will be changed Thursday night so those that practiced early will be on the same playing field as those that arrive late Thursday and Friday morning.

Friday the track will open at 8 am for practice which will last till 4 pm. If a line starts forming we will switch to timed practice sessions. If we get some complaints about not being able to get decent laps we will switch to practice by like speed classes that will be given a specific amount of time based on class entries.

We’re going us the same format as 2021. There will be 5 rounds of qualifying. Round 1 will serve 2 purposes. Round 1 will be used to sort for round 2 by using the top 3 consecutive laps but it will also count towards your laps and times for your final EQ position. Rounds 3 to 5 sorting will only use previous rounds best laps and time. You get the best of both worlds.

Saturday the track will open at 8 am with practice lasting till 10. We will start round 3 at 10:15 am and continue through round 5 till finished. We’ll take a 45 min break after round 3 for lunch. The track will be open for practice. After qualifying is complete the track will be open for practice till 11 pm possibly later.

Sunday the track will open at 8 am with practice lasting to 9. Mains will start at 9:15 sharp.

All A mains will run triples and doubles for lowers.

NOTE: "CO Box Stock" and "CO 2WD Stock" rules. "CO 2WD Stock" also allows "PN 2WD Stock" cars if you choose to compete in this class.
